Oregon Breeding Bird Atlas
Habitat description window

This window describes the plant communities, geographic extent, and significant features of the habitat. The number in parentheses is the habitat number as coded on digital map.

The habitat descriptions are reprinted by permission from the report: Kiilsgaard, C. 1999. "Land Cover Type Descriptions, Oregon Gap Analysis (1998 Land Cover for Oregon)." Oregon Natural Heritage Program, Portland, OR.

The habitat descriptions are part of the GAP project and created independently of the atlas.

From this window you may navigate to several other windows of information about the habitat. The "Map" link takes you to the statewide distribution. The "Description" link takes you to this description of the habitat. The "Species association" link lists the different species that might use this habitat for nesting. The list is organized by the strength of the association of the species with the habitat. "Photographs" shows a picture of the habitat. The "References" list shows you the bibliography of references cited in the habitat descriptions. "Next habitat" and "Previous habitat" allow you to navigate through the different habitats. The "Habitat list" takes you back to the overall list of habitats.

When several pictures of the habitat are available, you may select which picture to view.
